Art House Project

Kinza

Kinza was formerly a small house, well over a century old. The original roof and supporting structures are still intact, but traditional techniques have been employed to transform the building (including the outer walls) into a work of art. Visitors enter Kinza one at a time.

Kinza Visitor Information

Viewing Kinza Visitors are requested to enter one at a time and finish viewing Kinza within 15 minutes.

A reservation is required.
Reservations are also accepted by fax, if it is at least two days before the desired date. Fax the following information to the number given below: desired viewing date and time, number of visitors, name of group leader, fax number, and a telephone number where you can be reached on the date of visit. You will receive confirmation by fax in reply to your request. Please bring this confirmation sheet with you on the day reserved.

When You Visit
  • Come to the reception desk at the Honmura Lounge & Archive ten minutes before your reserved viewing time, show your reservation confirmation (email message or fax), and pay for your admission ticket.
  • At Kinza, show your admission ticket to site staff. Thank you for understanding that your reserved viewing period is 15 minutes, and entry after this period is not allowed.
Visitors With Children
  • The following restrictions apply, to protect the items in Kinza (which are extremely fragile).
  • Visitors may not enter the building with their children. Children must wait in the garden or with guardians outside.
    Note: For children who will view Kinza by themselves, separate reservations and admission fees are required. Children of elementary school age or younger will be accompanied by staff when viewing Kinza.

Born in Hiroshima, 1961. Degree in visual communication design from Musashino Art University, 1985.
