Is it possible to walk around the island?

Roughly speaking, the normal walking times are

• Miyanoura Port to Honmura: approx. 30 minutes (approx. 2.5km)
• Honmura to Benesse House: approx. 30 minutes (approx. 2.5km)
• Benesse House to the Lee Ufan Museum: approx. 9 minutes (approx. 500m)
• Lee Ufan Museum to the Chichu Art Museum: approx. 9 minutes (approx. 500m)
• Chichu Art Museum to Miyanoura Port: approx. 30 minutes (approx. 2.5km)

Note: Times may very due to differences among individuals.

Art Works

Is photography permitted?

Taking photographs of art work inside the Art Facilities is strictly prohibited. Only those works listed on the Outdoor Exhibit Map are allowed to be photographed. Please refer to following rules about the photography of outdoor works.

Chichu Art Museum : Chichu Art Museum Ticket Center and Chichu Garden can be photographed.
Lee Ufan Museum : Outdoor works can be photographed.
Benesse House Museum : Outdoor works can be photographed.
Art House Project : The exterior of the Art Facilities can be photographed. Please do so in a manner that will disturb the residents, passers, and viewers. Naoshima Bath "I♥湯" : The exterior of the facility can be photographed. Please do so in a manner that will disturb the residents, passers, and viewers.

The photographs can only be used for personal enjoyment, and cannot be reproduced in any publications.

Can the art work exhibited outdoors be touched?

To prevent any damage, please refrain from touching the outdoor art work.

How do I learn about the art work at Benesse Art Site Naoshima?

Every Facilities has originalpublications in Benesse Art Site Naoshima.

What should I do if I want to use the seminar rooms?

Benesse House has two conference rooms that can be used for seminars and other events.

Museum Lecture Room (Museum building)
Theater style (with chairs): Maximum capacity of 60 persons
School style (with tables and chairs): Maximum capacity of 30 persons

Park Hall (Park building)
Theater style (with chairs): Maximum capacity of 200 persons
School style (with tables and chairs): Maximum capacity of 100 persons
Buffet style: Maximum capacity of 80 persons

What time is hotel check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 3:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m.

What credit cards are accepted?

VISA, Master Card, American Express, JCB, and Diners Club.

Is parking available?

Yes, we have free parking areas for overnight guests.

I would like to see Oval. Is it possible to look around Oval without actually staying at Benesse House?

In consideration of our guests' privacy, only overnight guests in Oval can view Oval.

Is an Internet connection available in the guest rooms?

There are no Internet connections in the guestrooms, but we provide public computers for overnight guests at Benesse House. There are two computers in Park and one each in Museum and Oval, and part of the facility has free wireless access points.

Is there any place we can eat outside? Can we do fireworks around hotel?

It is not allowed to eat out, do fireworks, or to swim on our premises all-year around.

Are there medical facilities on Naoshima?

A municipal hospital, the Fureai Clinic, is located in Miyanoura (available 24 hours).

Is transportation available upon arrival at the Miyanoura port between the ferry terminal and Benesse House for hotel guests?

Yes. Benesse House shuttle buses are available when the ferry arrives at the Miyanoura port. If you plan to arrive or leave during a period when the shuttle buses are not operating, we can arrange to have you picked up or dropped off if you notify us ahead of time.

Do you accept luggage that is delivered prior to arrival?

Yes. Please indicate the name of the hotel guest and the arrival date and send it to the following address (please clearly state the name of the building where the hotel guest will be staying).
